Developing an Efficient EAP Placement Test Using Integrated Tasks to Assess Receptive and Productive Skills

Abstract

We document the development of an integrated assessment for reading, listening, and writing placement, maximizing efficiency and construct-representation through multiple tasks and an analytic rubric. Descriptive statistics and Rasch analysis indicate strong discrimination and inter-rater reliability, while post-assessment surveys and diagnostic checklists indicate positive washback and accurate placement decisions.
